Now I know I've been in England too long....
Today was a GORGEOUS day out! Best weather we've had yet this year, really felt like summer at long last. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, and it was sooooo warm.
In fact, it was so nice we broke out the kids' pool and filled it, ready for them to jump in after school. We dusted off the lawn furniture and set it up outside, and decided on barbeque for dinner. I made ice pops. Perfect summer day; I had visions of the kids playing in the pool, running around the garden with their ice pops, while DH and I sat at the garden table sipping frozen margaritas out of frosty glasses.
Curious, I decided to see how hot it was...
In case you can't see it, it says 57 DEGREES! Not 80, not even 70, but 57 bloody COLD degrees! If this is a "great summer day" then I know I've lived here too long and it's time to go home. And it felt so warm! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of the summer--one day we'll have those margaritas...

It was cold late this afternoon, even I kept my shirt on!
By 7pm I had my jumper on too
Oh MY! It was 90 here in the states - at least in Chicago. Last week, though we went through a nice range of temps from 57 - 80 or so. I think I'll take this heat, though, over the cold. Enjoy your "summer day"!
I just calculated that 59 is about 16C - well that IS quite pleasantly warm, particularly as the sites give the temp in the shade, so it's always a few degrees warmer in the sun.
Here the early spring temps are about 15-20 and I love them. Up to 25 is about perfect. Now it's 29 in the shade (which is about 83F) and I find it too hot in the sun although the shade temp is OK. But I've had to adjust... when I was a teenager in the UK I felt roasted and exhausted if it got as high as 25 (77).
I think it's great to adjust... so you can enjoy the odd day of warmth even if it isn't hot! I gather there's a fairly good summer predicted in the UK so it may be the first of many days of sitting outside. I hope the kids enjoy the pool. When it's summer here we live in the one air conditioned room and barely go outside at all.
Went up to 97 here in Austin, and I didn't even need the air conditioning in my car. True proof that we are more adaptable they it seems.
But a sunny day in England should be celebrated no matter what the temperature.
dang...bet the kids thought you were plum crazy...lol...it was still 87 here hin minnesotta at 8pm last night..now that is swimmin and margarita weather baby...stop by anytime..:-)
It's all so relative. In Minnesota after living with -60 degrees for a few weeks, 0 feels warm.
Once we took a vacation to California and it was 50 degrees (coming from a freaking -75 degrees in MN) and wearing shorts and a T-shirt and loving how warm it was. Once we moved in CA, I'd wear a winter coat if it was 50.
Yikes! Where I live, 57 degrees is a winter evening.
OKay...(Shh...what's a jumper?)
The temp is funny, I'd trade with you. It's only about 80 here, but I am still adjusting to the humidity! ICK!
Good Lord! That's jacket weather!
(Got you added tonight on my site. Thank you for finding me!!! You are a sweetie!)
Oops! Sorry. That was me!

To all of you who said it's hot where you are...I'M JEALOUS!!
Sheri, it's a sweater (don't worry--most people don't know!)
Boudicca--thanks for stopping by!
Lora--you rock! thanks so much!
Wow! You so totally just came up while I was "Surfing Member Blogs!" How cool, that's never happened before! :-D
It sounds hot in United Kingdoms. Actually, it is quite hot in Singapore too. In fact temperature shoudl vary between 30 - 34 degree Celsius lately in Singapore. I am glad that there are trees around to bring in the shades.
By the way, I will be visiting London soon. Would you be able to advise me of the opening hours of the Natural History Museum?
